Paul, you might add that a dog in the home is better defense than a dog in the yard, for many reasons. Dog in yard is likely to bark at stuff that poses no threat, and it may be hard to distinguish when dog is barking at an intruder. Also, your dog barking at 3am may alienate your neighbor, who may be important to your home defense. Dog in the home at night is unlikely to be motivated to bark unless it senses something unusual, but when awakened to a sense of danger, dogs bark and may attack, so be careful rousing your dog from deep sleep. Where in the home the dog sleeps is not critical, but a dog sleeping in bed with you is less likely to be roused by anything than a dog in his own bed in a central location. Rarely does a burglar enter a home through the bedroom. Exterior doors and windows in unoccupied rooms are more common entries. Be aware that your dog, unless an experienced hunting dog, is likely to run away and hide when you fire your weapon.

Paul I have a problem, I have a AR in 450 caliber. Was going to use deer hunting in Michigan . I bought the upper and built the lower. It has a. Vortex 4-12-80 scope. The trouble is i zero at 25 yards , no troubles . I back off to 50 yards and the rounds are hitting 10 inches up and 8 inches left. What could be causing this. 450 rounds aren’t cheap . Help a old Vietnam vet out brother. I do not have this trouble with any of my other long arms ( SKS, AR in 7.62, M-1 carbine , and a bunch of shot guns. Doug from Michigan
